Our Pastor

My name is Alex Mareniuc and in 2020, in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, the South England Conference has asked me to start a new exciting chapter in my pastoral ministry by assuming care of the Chatham, Riverway and Maidstone churches. Before coming to this District, I spent several years working in different capacities with churches of the South England Conference. During my studies at Newbold I worked with the London Romanian and Harrow District as a volunteer and was instrumental in planting the very successful East London Romanian Church (2011) and the Watford Romanian Church (2014). After completing my Pastoral studies at Newbold, I did my Internship in the now extended London Romanian District of Churches (London Romanian, East London Romanian, Watford Romanian and Harrow Church), then served as the Associate Pastor of Croydon Seventh-day Adventist Church between 2017 and 2020. I have been an Ordained Seventh-day Adventist Minister since September 2019.

I believe that our Lord Jesus Christ is coming soon and He called us to be part of the work that He is doing to prepare the hearts and minds of people for that moment by being a practical church that replicates His method of ministry. He is the One whose example we are here to follow. I thank God for the many gifts that He chose to bestow upon me that help me to lead His Church and minister to His children. By the grace of God, I currently hold a BA in Theology from the Theologische Hochschule Friedensau and an MA in Pastoral Ministry from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, along with other courses and trainings in different fields including practical evangelism, discipleship, church growth, emotional & mental health, organisational management, family counselling, and several areas of IT&C. During my ministry, I have planted two churches and worked with a third, dedicated over 150 children to the Lord, baptised over 100 souls for the Kingdom of Heaven, counsellend tens of individuals while going through different challenges in life as well as families before marriage and after years of marriage, preached and offered trainings in churches in different parts of the world and I know the best is yet to come!

After several years of pastoring different churches in different contexts with more or less challenges, I have learnt that God always has a plan and that there is amazing truth in Paul’s statement in Romans 8:28 that “all things work together for good to those who love God”. I believe that even though we are living in strange times God is still in control and everything still happens for a reason and at the right time. We have to pay attention, be willing and be ready. Along with my wife Madalina and our son Ethan (born in 2017) I am looking forward to seeing what God’s plan is for us as a family, for us as a Seventh-day Adventist family in the district and for the communities that our churches have been called to serve.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the Fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen!
